Sticky Wicket Pub & Restaurant in Vancouver Island

This place is a vibe. Outstanding ambiance with with delicious dishes and drinks on the menu. Pool and darts available on site. Super friendly staff :)

The name perfectly describes the place. Week days are drastically different than the weekend, but the drinks are fairly cheap! A Victoria classic.

Well it's with very mixed feelings I post this review. The food at the Sticky Wicket was excellent, and I loved the atmosphere and decor. The server was very nice and they were very accommodating of my wife's food allergy. The problem came as we were finishing our dessert. I looked up to see a large group of mice scampering around the the recently vacated area beside us And around the server station. When we brought it to the attention of the server, she apologized and said that it always happened when the weather turned cold. I don't live in Victoria but this is the only venue in Victoria where I have encountered them. Unfortunately I cannot recommend The Sticky Wicket after this experience, which is very sad because outside of the rodent issue I would have loved to return. I'd honestly rather have cats wandering around the pub.

Came here for my birthday on June 27. One is the guests at our party of 6 had a $13 bill and chose not to tip because our waitress with the black curly hair had not came to ask us if we needed anything for half an hour. When my friend did not tip, she proceeded to scold us all about not tipping: told us she had to pay for us to be at the bar if we did not tip her. This is absolutely disgusting. This waitress with the curly black hair should be fired immediately. Disgusting service.

This place was awesome! Was recommended to me by "Shay" (hope I'm spelling that right, cause I'd be stoked to see her again). On the weekends the lower bar was pretty chill until midnight, then crazy party time after the rooftop bar closed. Weekdays were regulars and super-duper easy going. Their seafood soup was amazing.

Good food. Gluten free options. Nice staff. Comfy place.

Enjoyed the falafel lunch, it was plenty! My friend had the ‘pulled’ chicken Greek gyro. She wasn’t so pleased. It was a good portion. Not pulled and dry. The fries were crispy, if you in like that, I do, she don’t! Service was good, nice place.

Christmas Turkey dinner was quite good. Extra gravy... yum. 1/2 of us didn't get green beans though. Server said "they probably ran out", at 5 pm?! Cocktails were watery and no flavor, no simple syrup.Table salt instead of rock salt rim! Server was great.

Thia place is gorgeous. It has such a historic feel and look. The multiple levels are exciting to explore leading to several different bar areas. The sa staff was fantastic. The drinks and appetizers were delicious. My lack of giving 5 stars I'd sue to the entrees, they were very disappointing and missed the meal completely. I would go back again however I would either pass on a full meal or maybe try something different. We had the ribs and the open face turkey.

Vibe was great, service was awesome. Our waiter was prompt, friendly and great to deal with. Initially I left a lower rating but they offered me a chance to come back and give it another try. They rectified the issue and left the situation with a positive resolution based on great customer service.I'll be going back after this for sure!

awesome place to go the bar manager made me and my friends experience amazing the only reason why I didn't give it five stars was because I thought their menu really had nothing on it

Great food at great price. The best part is that you can finish up and duck over to Big Bad John's and take in a historic watering hole all in the same trip. Well worth the visit!!

Server was nice, however not the lady manager who was working on the Christmas day evening. Lady Manager needs to learn customer service, maybe from the server.Family restaurant however not much gluten free options for kids. Not much options were offered by the lady manager and she was very rude. Treat people with respect.

This is my favorite place in down town Victoria. On a beautiful day, the roof top patio, is the place to be! They also have a beach volleyball court if you feel like playing! Great staff and the food is really good as well. Overall, this is a great place to experience.

Went there last night with some friends to have fun. Everything was fine until we decided to leave our jackets to go to the washroom. When we came back it was stolen. Literally 6 jackets or more. My friend talked to them and they said nothing was seen in the cameras zzzz

Great selection of beer on tap and a variety of cocktails. The bbq wings are good and so were the mozza sticks. The games room had billiards and darts. Darts are available for a $5 deposit that is returned after you play.

One of my favorite places, but they're closed and I guess they are now called The Strath...Edit: thanks for the clarification. The last time I was here was when my grandmother passed. It will be nice to be there again to drink one for her.

Good food. Nice atmosphere. Went for a staff party; our bartender was fairly nice but a little inattentive. It can be difficult to keep up with a large group. We tried to be understanding but a few of us had a hard time getting her attention for drinks.

Normally a tourist filled, loud, bustling pub, it was a pleasant surprise to gather here with friends for a Christmas dinner. Friendly, attentive service, great non-noisy atmosphere, and surprisingly good food.This may just become a holiday tradition.

We happened upon the Sticky Wicket in April 2019 on vacation on our search for dinner. We chose correctly.The wait staff was very attentive. The food around us looked amazing. My husband had "Mom's Meatloaf" and I had the "Mushroom Burger" with Carrot Cake to take to go to our hotel for dessert.My husband cleaned his plate and my burger was a multiple napkin burger...all great points.

Wings were terrible. Gin and tonic was terrible. Top shelf rum was questionable at best. This place has really gone downhill. They did manage to serve a cold beer hence the one star.

This place is a hit or miss for me. Sometimes it’s so insanely busy I can’t even think about going inside.

One of my favorite places in Victoria. Great environment. Historic building. Many interesting things to look at inside. And the seafood Chowder is the best I have ever had. Love it, make sure you visit the Sticky Wicket for a meal or just for a drink. Cheers!

This place is awesome. Amazing decor and atmosphere. Best fish and chips I have had in a really long time. Absolutely delicious and crispy.

The buffalo ranch pizza is so good . Great service and wonderful atmosphere

The beers taste like their taps are not regularly cleaned and it's far too crowded in the evenings. The bar by the dance floor is so close to the railing that it's likely you'll bump into people and spill your drink. Also a lot of dead zones, would probably work better as several different bars.

I had the mac and cheese, it was the best I have had in a long time. The beer was good also.

Absolute best place in Victoria for lunch and casual dinner. Large bar and beer choices. Varied menu done well. Atmosphere is predictable but very English pub. On multiple floors.

Their steak and lobster dine-around-town special was spectacular. The appy, main and dessert were all delicious. Only perfectly cooked lobster I have had outside of the maratimes!

Ive been going here for about 15 years. Staff are always very friendly and quick to deliver everything so I wished to express my thanks to everyone there. Stay safe and stay healthy. Maybe I will come watch a baseball game soon haa

This is a first time for me and I found this pub to be guite good. Good service and tasty appetizer and wide range of beer. Great place to watch sports on the screen at the bar. The food picture is of cauliflower wings. A great taste and make sure to get second of dip.

Went into sticky wicket for a drink as I have been coming here for the past 9 years. Our server in the games room was an Australian named brenton. He was very chatty, positive, and happy to take our drink requests! This is a breathe of fresh air as a lot of the servers come off bothered and u happy to be there. All his guests loved his personality and we left very happy with our experience. Will be back again and hope to have brenton as our bartender!!!

This has been a great downtown watering hole for 25 plus years. I love this building! Big Bad John's is just a staple of places you must go for a beer.

Went to this pub purely for the grub. Overall, outstanding quality and tasty food options prepared to perfection. Do try an order of the fries. They’re beer battered and delicious. In addition, their drink menu was plentiful and will fill the needs of whatever type of beverage you desire. And for those interested, the restaurant is such that the decor is interesting and inviting, the atmosphere relaxed but entertaining, and they have TVs galore to keep up on the sporting events. The staff is also great! Prices are decent.Please note, this pub does convert into a night club on Friday and Saturday nights. I cannot speak to that, as I did not visit during those times.

Again this year we had dinner and it was lovely. All four of us each had something different and it was all great. Last year, the fish was delice fresh piping hot and beautifully presented. I'll be back again next year!

Wonderful local fare in a setting with plenty of atmosphere. Get the fish and chips pare it with a local craft beer and you won't be disappointed. Plenty of seating for a large group. Definitely worth a visit!

I respect it's tough for staff at bars in this time; however, I arrived to meet up with friends and walked once through looking for where they were seated. I was stopped rudely & abruptly by staff who barked, "you can't just walk around in here!" And a 2nd time around the next bend. Weird dismal atmosphere overall, a complete waste of money. Despite it all, I tipped well, but won't be returning. Lesson learned, better off in my own backyard, for reals!

I do like the Sticky Wicket. I loved it in the 90's when I lived in Victoria and I love it now when I travel back there.Good food, good beer selection, and a great set of bars ask together in one. There's the British pub, the games room, the rooftop bar, the sports bar, the whiskey bar, the dance club and - my person favorite - Big Bad John's, the old school country bar.Damn, I love that place. The is good food wherever you go (maybe not so much in the dance club), the staff is really good at their work and just fun to chat with. Oh and it's part of a hotel, in case you need a place to stay.This is one place I always recommend to people travelling to Victoria. And I am recommending it to you now.

I stayed at the hotel above the restaurant and bar. Absolutely love the sticky wicket and when I'm in Victoria I'm gonna be here at some point. It's super fun place to go with great food and excellent service.

It was a very busy Friday night but our glasses were never empty and our server even took some time to recommend other things she thought we might like. (we did!) I'll go back next time I'm looking for a night out.

Dropped in after a good evening of fine Scotch Whiskey tasting (SMWS January out-turn event) upstairs. It was Thursday, but a very quiet evening ... I had an excellent bowl ... FULL .... of seafood chowder ... (Not a 'dinky' bowl like some restaurants serve. I like strong flavours, spicy up to hot, and only mildly salty ... but I didn't have to add any pepper, or spicy sauce, it was tasty on it's own.Then had a bowl of beef steak stroganoff, it was good also ... Big tender chunks of beef, nice mushroom sauce, good pasta. Enjoyed the food with a bargain tasting of a selection from their offering of fancy whiskeys from their 16/21 menu .... 16/21=from 16:00 hrs to 21:00 hrs ... Fine spirits available at basic stock prices .... Ask the hostess, they'll explain. It was a very nice interlude.Thanks

Prime rib has was good. Nice interior. Service was a bit slower than I'd like.
